Investigació

The projects developed by the Maritime Engineering Laboratory (LIM / UPC) use:

  • Numerical models, both in-house developments and adapted versions of the main community-use codes

  • Field measurements, using both advanced commercial equipment and in-house developed equipment, or using sophisticated equipment developed by other European research groups.

  • Reduced-scale and large-scale physical modelling using the LIM/UPC wave basin and wave flumes of different dimensions.

  • Hybrid approaches that combine the best of both technologies according to the capabilities of numerical or physical models, in order to provide a better response to the theoretical, design, or construction issues raised.

  • Combined approaches in which, due to the special difficulty or uncertainty of the problem being addressed, it is advisable to combine numerical or hydraulic models with field measurements.

Funding comes from European, national, and regional funds, as well as private funds.
